Melatonin is a hormone secreted mainly by the gland in the brain called the pineal gland, also known as the epiphysis.
Melatonin is a very important hormone as it regulates the circadian rhythm; its secretion is regulated by light: when the light stimulus reaches the retina, a signal is transmitted to the epiphysis where its secretion is inhibited.
The dark, on the other hand, stimulates its release, as represented by the graph.
Melatonin can be used in food supplements, in the maximum daily quantity of 1 mg and is a valid aid for the management of the following disorders:
- Sleep disorders, even in case of anxiety and stress, both in people who struggle to fall asleep, or in those who tend to wake up early in the middle of the night, thanks to its ability to restore the body’s natural biological rhythms;
- Jet-lag, or circadian dysrhythmia;
Phytomelatonin 95%
